Blogging blogging not enough time

Im feeling a bit like the MAD HATTER today, rushing around without enough time... I've realized I have gone forward on blogging and didn't know diddly-squat about what I am doing.

After reading many many blogs I wanted to try it out for myself, after all I have a few words to say too.

And so there I went.. helter skelter going about doing my blogs, commenting, reading, reveling in the new atmosphere of the blog.  Wow this is great I said to myself and anyone else who would listen.

Then I started noticing a theme, its to attract new clients, referrals, better my business.

DUH.. of course I do it for those reasons, now I have learned that the real bloggers have a method, a purpose to everything they write. I think I'm missing the boat here.. SO off I went to gather more information ...

There is ..  http://www.pingmyblog/...  it adds yours to alot of other sites.

there are consumer viewing sites.    Linked In..  Facebook.. My space..

Then the more experienced seem to mention..   DIGG THIS       and    del.icio.us... social networking places.

So now I have more work to do that I expected to do the rest of this year.     and it needs to be done NOW if Im to be effective.  Wheewww   so like the MAD HATTER .. off I go.

Small Town America within the BIG CITY grasp.

Small Town America still exists in many places, I live in Austin Texas, a city of under 1 million, awe have outlying areas of small towns, and within a 40 mile radius it can be very small town.  Sometimes we get busy in the citylife and forget how simple things can still be, Just this morning on the radio was a commerical that brought it all close to home for me.

"Playing at the Coupland Dance Hall this weekend is the wonderful Country Band, Asleep at the Wheel..  and the commerical went on to say,  Tickets are still available at the ____ Feed and Grain Store in Bastrop thru Saturday."

I don't know why I suddenly turned my attention to the commerical, because it mentioned the band I like? ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL featuring Ray Benson?  Or was it because of the ticket sales at the Feed and Grain Store? Which ever it was the commerical certain grabbed my attention, I thought this is what I need to do also, find a way to grab the attention of people who need my services, my skills as a professional realtor.b

I do that everytime I hold another Open House, I do that everytime I put out seminar information, everytime I send another Note, everytime I update my website.  Its what we all do, we hope someone is paying attention, someone is listening, or reading.  Referrals are our best means of new business, we need to keep ourselves in the forefront of peoples minds when a referral comes up.  Its WHO DO YOU KNOW that may have real estate needs now?

Sometimes its just the presentation of a statement, WHO DO YOU KNOW?

I'm Giving Thanks for

Today is the eve of Thanksgiving... a busy day for shopping, preparing, last minute cleaning and shining the china, the silver, the chandeleirs... all those things that make a festive place.

But this is a special holiday to many, its a reflection of what life is.  All those things I'm thankful for, the obvious, my daughter and grandchildren and wonderful son in law , my sisters, neices, nephews and the whole list of my relatives far and wide.

The not so obvious things, the car I take for granted that I get into each morning and it just takes me where I need without hesitation and with minimal maintenance.

I'm thankful I was added to my friend KarenSue's  active rain invitation list.,.. I have thoroughly enjoyed the Rain, I have met some incredible people here and learned much more than I ever thought I could in such a short time.   In the Rain I have learned how to make graphics and signs, Put a Christmas Clock on my site, link to places, make postlets, use all sorts and kinds of tools that are FREE here online. And I have expanded my real estate knowledge with all the wisdom here at AR.  Today I am thankful for many many things but i didn't want this opportunity to say thanks to all of you slip by.T

What were they THINKING? builders and $1.7 million homes

Just what are some builders and their designers thinking?  keyDoes TOO TALL LIVE HERE?

Last week i went on a property tour of homes in the $1.7 to $3.4 million ranges here in Austin Texas..  quite impressive I assure you.  BUT and here is the thing I can't get over...

THE CENTER ISLAND in the KITCHEN.. k2 beautiful stone and granite. but the hummer is about 5ft wide, now, I grant you I'm just 5'2" and many are taller but I'm definitely not an odditiy or of unusually short stature....  I could NOT for the life of me reach the center of those counters.  HOW does one clean it? or even use it???  These particular homes were not the only over ONE MILLION DOLLAR homes I've been in this year, but they are the ones with the same featured center island that is unusable for many homeowners.

Please designers and builders make a functionable item just that functionable..  unless you are building a custom home for a particular client, use some averages for appliances and countertops.  Oh this group of homes were "spec" homes... not for a particular buyer but for a buyer looking in that price range.

Design, beauty and functionality are all a part of a successful product,. or a form to function.

Am I being too critical?  Please AR'ers let me know if I'm off base here .... or should we put a friendly bug into the builder's ear?

humor for the holiday.. Twas the Night of Thanksgiving

'       Twas the night of Thanksgiving,
I just couldn't sleep,
I tried counting backwards, I tried counting sheep.   The leftovers beckoned,
the dark meat and white,
but I fought the temptation
with all of my might.
  Tossing and turning
with anticipation,
the thought of a snack
became infatuation.
So, I raced to the kitchen,
flung open the door
and gazed at the fridge,
full of goodies galore.
I gobbled up turkey
and buttered potatoes,
pickles and carrots,
beans, and tomatoes.
I felt myself swelling
so plump and so round,
till all of a sudden,
I rose off the ground.
I crashed through the ceiling,
floating into the sky,
with a mouthful of pudding
and a handful of pie.
But, I managed to yell
as I soared past the trees...
happy eating to all
...pass the cranberries, please.   Hope You and Yours Have A Wonderful Thanksgiving---

this is a handmedown from an internet friend, thanks lizzieb.
